| Imperial Tobacco will absorb its European competitor Altadis
Stockholders of the Tobacco Company Altadis voted for absorption from the side of Imperial Tobacco. Now the British company will become the owner of its European competitor.
The stockholders of Imperial Tobacco spoke in support of a proposal to purchase Altadis in 2007. At the same time in March negotiations between sides began. European rejected offers more than once. However, when the amount of transaction ran up to 16,2 billion Euro in Julie taking into account debts of Franco Spanish campaign (50 Euro for one share), they agreed to absorption.
Imperial Tobacco is at the fourth place in the world among the cigarettes producers. The company produces such cigarettes brands as Davidoff and West. Altadis is the second tobacco company in Europe, producing cigarettes Gauloises and Gitanes.
